By this time Joseph and his four daughters were all retired from work. He gave up his post as chief of police, becoming a “traveling preacher” (which he later changed to “publican”). And by that time, Jourgensen had already sold his shares in the Boston Globe, and moved to New Orleans, where he owned several other interests, including a large amount of land.
