After a short delay yesterday, our next installment in our ‘what’s coming up in 2017’ series continues today as we get into the meat of the ‘Carmen’ update.
Carmen is a new, fun, and surprisingly popular co-op role-playing game from the creators of the smash-hit title ‘The Witcher.’ This one continues the story you’ve already seen in the first game, with players exploring a fantasy world set in the medieval era.
Carmen looks very nice, and is clearly well thought out by the team at CD Projekt Red, but this kind of game always gets a lot of flack. There’s always that naysayer who doesn’t like to spend much more than three minutes in the game, and for good reason.
There are also those who enjoy being in the game for the duration of the story, and that can be frustrating.
On the flip side, there are also those who like having the ‘one-player only’ mode, where you are playing against a computer in a single round. This mode is a lot of fun without being too clunky – it has the advantage of being really quick, but that’s about it.
The latter half of the game brings back a new mode called ‘Duel’ which lets you play with up to four players over a single battle and has some interesting mechanics to play with.
We’ve been testing the game (albeit with very limited play), and the verdict is that we like it. You can expect several more installments of The Witcher’s story game format, and we may even catch an adventure with a brand new heroine from the first game.
That’s a lot of promise, and a lot of fun too, but we’ll just have to wait for more official confirmation and more game footage.
