I’m afraid not. It has a high level of porosity. So in my opinion, it should be avoided if you want a smooth surface for painting, but it is a great stain. I think it’s better to use a less porous product than it is to try something like enameling. If you have the time, it might even be better to do one or two coats but I would keep in mind that it is still a very porous material. In one side this looks like the “spotted” side and the other is polished. The white and yellow look a little bit different, it could be subtle or it could be very noticeable.
As far as surface finish goes, a “perfect” product needs to be a surface that is not “stuck” to the metal or it will be hard to remove. It should not look like sand, it should not look like old stains, it should not look like plastic. It should not look flat. I’ve never seen anything look like that, maybe a surface that looks like old wood, perhaps a surface that does not want to get covered to any degree, but I do not have access to that material. It could just be something that you get as a sample or you could buy it if you want. That’s all I really know.
A note about the color. In one place is an image of this product and it shows the image of it with other white enamel coatings. The image is for a picture that has a similar look, maybe it is a combination of various stains, but that doesn’t seem to be what this is.
That said I found a picture from their website with the words “White Enamel Polish” and it is a little different to what I have shown above. It looks like the words “White enamel” were added, which would indicate the use of more black in the mixture. They mention enamel coating but do not specify which type. I do not know exactly whether that is true or not but I do know that my bottle still did not look exactly like this photo, maybe I added some black or it wasn’t as complete a surface as it should be. The bottle also shows it as dry and white so maybe that is why it was so dark. I do not think I will be trying this again, hopefully if I did not have a problem it would be over by now.
