In general, it is easier to paint new Krylon than to paint older Krylon. This is partly based on the fact that the older paint will absorb moisture more effectively, and also due to the fact that the old Krylon paints are harder. There is an easy way to paint rustoleum over the old Krylon, though. Just use a clear acrylic paint and use your finger! I have also painted all the rustoleum under a clear coat of acrylic paint as well.

You can. If you apply a good topcoat, you can actually get it to get the same look if you paint around the outside. If you apply a thin coat of red, blue, or green, you can actually get a nice red look around the door if you paint around the door.

For the most part, I would use Krylon’s primer coat. Since the finish on the exterior of the door is still going to be very thick, I do not want to paint any other finish. It will be much easier to cover the painted surfaces with the primer. I would try to use Krylon’s primer coat for the outside of the door as well, and then use a lighter primer coat for interior surfaces.

This is usually the result of the door being painted over a surface that was painted first or a surface that was sprayed on to the existing paint on the door. If you notice a surface that is uneven in appearance, try to go over the area just as best you can, and let that finish dry completely before moving on.
