Saffron has appeared for four seasons in the episode “The Burden of Knowing”: First on April 3, 1999 on FOX, then on August 13, 1999 in CBS’ midseason premiere, and finally on April 22, 2002 on Fox in which season two was filmed by Michael Bay.
Has Saffron made a cameo? Yes! One may also look to the opening credits of the first spin-off, “The Island of Dr. Moreau” of “Battlestar Galactica.” There is one scene with Saffron as the only survivor: As she’s being taken to a meeting with a “supercomputer” (which would later become the B-Mite) she says to her captors, “Hello?” Yes, Saffron says “Hello.”
Did she speak German? Yes. Yes she did — as seen in Season 1, Episode #23, “Lifeline.”
Did B-Mite’s name, “Bud” come from the German “Buhne” to be “Bitten,” as the character was portrayed by Saffron’s mother? Possibly; “Lifeline” has a shot of the “Lifeline Hotel” and B-Mite’s name shows up as a phone number. A similar connection to the character’s real name, the B-Mite’s name was a reference to the song Budweiser’s “We Gotta Go.”
Did the character’s true name, “Lifeline” appear in The Island of Dr. Moreau? Yes — “Lifeline” is the name of the main character’s family member and as she is not a character in the series, he’s named “Lifeline.”
Were many members of the Lillian Hightower family in the “Burden of Knowing”? Yes. There was a character at least three seasons in, named “Tin Tin” who is the mother of Rufus, and his brother’s name is “Hoody.” Both of these characters’ names are a reference to Tin Tin, the famous Irish stage and radio singer.
Were “Das Blutte” and “Lienbarn” two names from the first two seasons? No. Though Lienbarn was “a good girl” and Das Blutte was the “taste of paradise in a hard life.” They are later introduced in a story from Season 4.
