How can I grow saffron at home? – Planting Saffron Crocus In Pots

You don’t need anything fancy to make your own saffron. You just need a little water and an old tumbler. You’ll also want to make sure that the temperature of the water used is consistent with the temperature at your location, and that there aren’t any hot spots where some of the water is freezing and the other is not.

Is it safe to eat the seeds?

Yes, saffron can be eaten or put into dishes as food. Most of the seeds contain thymosin, a thymol-like compound. You can be sure to eat them and avoid thymosin toxicity.

Is there anything I can do to ensure I grow a harvest of good-quality saffron?

Yes, keep your indoor/outside garden well watered, don’t let the humidity get above 30%, and provide proper ventilation. Also, make sure that the soil at your location is completely dry, even if it’s only a few inches below the surface. The sun needs to be the primary light source to maintain good yields and quality.

If you have an outdoor garden please follow the same advice as mentioned above, otherwise, save your seed oil and put it directly into the soil.
