Is there a weight limit for pole dancing? – Exotic Pole Dance Competition 2019 Winners

No, it is okay to go lighter than 80kg. We’ve had a pole class that went up 50kg, which is fine if that’s your goal. It really depends on the coach and the situation, though.

Have you had any problems with people using pole arms to pull other people down?

We have not had that but we do have a bit of complaints. Some people have complained about being pulled down, which is an unfortunate thing at the end of the day. We don’t know how we can help them but we can talk to them about it. We might have to remove some of the poles in the future. But we haven’t actually had any reports yet.

Do you have any new equipment at the moment?

We have a new pole class and a new rope class.

Are you ever going to put the new pole class into practice?

Absolutely. It’s going to become official in the next few days.

Do you think the weight allowance is good enough? Is it too light?

It’s a bit over the top at the moment. Sometimes people want to come up from the bottom or the top and lift. The class for pole that’s in place right now doesn’t offer those options but, if I had to choose, I’d pick the class that allows you to lift up for longer.

Do you plan to put in weight?

I would love to, but the classes in place are too high so there might not be enough pole dancers to accommodate that.

Is it a problem that no one really gets hurt from pole dancing?

In my opinion, no, not at all. In fact, I’m not even sure we would be safe if we were getting injured because we always get pulled by other dancers at the end of the day.

“It’s really a skill with a lot of depth; you have to learn how to control your body if you want to reach higher,” says Niki. “If you put in too much weight, you will get pulled in different ways and you won’t be able to do that again.”
