It’s something I think is going to be very popular in Ireland at the moment, it’s like the ‘Ndrangheta or something as well, it’s like the outlaws, those outlaws that they used to be. You know what I mean? So if you’re going in and you start dancing for other people and you see it, then you get hooked, that’s something that’s very attractive.
“The other thing is it’s one of the most relaxing things on stage. It’s something which you don’t have to worry about anything and you don’t have to worry about the crowd or anything. As soon as it starts the first time you know it’s going to be a good time. It’s a really nice way to spend an evening, to start and it’s got a big following in Irish society.”
Touring is one of the highlights of her life, while she also works full time as a motivational speaker in Ireland with the charity The Life Changing Foundation.
Pole Dancing Ireland 2018, which takes place in Dublin later this month, brings one more international artist to the event after a string of international women who have taken notice of the event and returned to the capital to showcase some of their own pole dancing.
There’s another international woman on the bill, Brazilian pole star Carla Cabral, a regular on world pole dance TV shows such as Brazil’s “Aerial” and “Brazilian Extreme”, who has been touring since 2013 with her sister and fellow Brazilian, Carla LeBlanc, now 28 years old.
Cabral became an international sensation last year after a performance in London, and has seen her popularity climb steadily since then, winning numerous awards and recognising Cabral as the first female pole star with a worldwide audience. Now a regular on television for Europe and North America, Cabral recently joined her sister and an eclectic cast of guest dancers this November for a spectacular aerial show in Los Angeles.
Touring across the world is one of the major highlights of Maria’s life, but the highlight of her calendar is the two-week-a-year pole dancing competition she holds that gives pole dancers from all over the world an opportunity to compete for a prestigious spot as the best dance competitor in the world.
This year she has received 23 submissions from around the globe. The winner will be invited back to Dublin with Maria, with who she will also be performing at the pole dancing show.
