I’m a fan of the drawing, not the painting since the painting is the same as what I’ve done.
How do you see yourself?
It’s important to see and to feel in life that you’re still alive.
What about working with other people?
I have an understanding and respect for other people and for the world.
Are you going to continue to paint even after your death?
I will think about it for many years.
Can you explain your own style and what it is?
There’s no such thing. I just paint my way.
What do you paint like?
I paint like a lot of painters I know.
What’s it like working in a gallery?
I am lucky to be able to work in a gallery, because it gives me a lot of opportunities to see other artists live, experience that.
So what happened to you after you were discharged from Iraq?
I had a lot of offers, so I didn’t make any money. I wasn’t very successful, but when things get good enough, I find it easy to work again. I don’t need to worry about work, I can find other people who want to work and have money. Sometimes people need to make an income by the second year because they’ve done good work before.
What’s the meaning of your art?
It’s what I paint.
