Is it too late to learn to draw? – Free Online Art Lessons Homeschool Classifieds Used Curriculum

The fact is, for every good artist we’re lucky enough to have, there are just as many that are simply awful…and just as many that are brilliant (and one of these days I hope I will find one of these guys and tell him to write a letter of thanks, not because he was any good but because it wouldn’t be his first and last…that would be too selfish).

So, what’s it like to learn to draw? How can you learn?

I was inspired at a young age by an old family friend who had a wonderful drawing, full of colour and a deep sense of style (I still have it!). Unfortunately, it was in such a way that I found myself having to do the actual drawing. It was as if a new book had come inside and he was only able to read and paint the inside back cover as it was too hard! So, I did some work on my own – with the help of a teacher – to make it so I wouldn’t have to draw…and then I wrote a book about it!

If you had to do it all over again, would you do it differently in the same way?

My initial impulse when I moved to Australia for university was to study as a graphic designer and make my art for a living (this has now been abandoned). It was a horrible lifestyle, but I found drawing and writing my favourite activities. And it was fun! So, from that point of view – and with my initial sense of what a good illustration is – I’m not sure why I have a hard time learning how to draw.

But I find I learn just fine about the same subjects through social media – for instance, I enjoy listening to new music, but I spend much time looking to see if anyone else has uploaded a new playlist.

I did find, that on a less social media website like Facebook, I get a lot more encouragement to become good at my craft, although I’m also happy to spend time making things and making things (so maybe I have a different idea on education!). But it’s all very vague – I don’t know where people have found inspiration in themselves…I’d always assumed it was somewhere down the line, like learning how to play the guitar or painting books

Do you find that those who are more self-motivated find it harder to learn than those who are more interested in social learning?

I don’t know if the people who have a good grasp on
