How can I teach myself to paint? – The Virtual Instructor Reviews

What do I need to get started? How do I learn to draw? What’s the difference between drawing and painting? These are just some of the many questions posed in a new video produced by the Department of Art at San Francisco State University. The video is part of a series of multimedia exhibits at SF State’s Art Museum.

How will I know what to do? The goal of the video is to get you into the swing of things. You can explore the video itself in a couple of steps:

1. Select your course of study (the video will give you a sense when to take the class, then tell you when it will be needed in your career). 2. Check out the videos. The videos range from more generic art studies courses to more experimental ones. They cover a variety of theory, drawing principles, color theory, composition, and even drawing the most basic elements of a painting. 3. Look up some of the instructors in your area. You’ll probably want to read up on and learn from artists who have been working with these concepts for a long time. 4. Join one of the student groups. There are a number of groups in the United States, and their members are learning and teaching the concepts at SF State.

Are there students who just don’t believe that science is real art? Absolutely not! For the video, the faculty members are presenting the concepts and techniques that they use as a starting point to develop theory, composition and color. What they don’t do is throw up their hands and shout, “We don’t do it!”

The lesson on painting comes out of a series of examples from each of the six major fields of science. What we’re finding in most science disciplines is that there are many, many, many more interesting problems than solutions. And you don’t have to like science to appreciate other disciplines’ work, even in the same field.

In the example of painting, it’s easy to see the way that the concepts in the videos are being applied to real lifeā€”the idea of painting and the processes that go into painting are not that different from the way we see the world around us, and even the way we perceive ourselves as artists. The only difference is that there is a science to understanding and painting, and science and art are two different disciplines.

The video is divided into 10 parts and shows several key concepts that are central in the art process of painting: perspective, composition, and a variety of other topics.
