Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham have signed a letter asking Attorney General Jeff Sessions to appoint an independent counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The Republicans, in a statement, say they see “concern that the Department of Justice may potentially be biased in favor of President Trump’s campaign.” The letter comes just days after Democrats said Sessions’ nomination to be attorney general had fallen through because of questions about his meetings with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and his statements before Congress about the Trump campaign during the 2016 campaign.
“While this investigation is still ongoing,” the senators said, “We believe it is essential to appoint an independent counsel who is independent from the Department of Justice and may be able to fully pursue these questions and resolve this controversy.”

The National Hockey League Board of Governors approved a three-year, $3.25 billion deal by NHL clubs to broadcast 30 regular season games throughout North America through its National Hockey League Enterprises and NHL Global Media networks. The league said the new deal will serve as a template for the development of new global digital media properties and a basis for the future expansion of NHL-related digital efforts.
The deal, which will be televised throughout North America on NBC and NBCSN, makes the NHL one of the first sports leagues in North America to invest in its media presence from one of the most iconic brand in entertainment and commercial sports.
