No, because that requires too much practice.
It’s different at the piano that you need to be in tune with the note. That’s an important part of the playing.
The notes have to be within range of each other.
When you start playing like that, you’ve got to be in the groove.
You can’t be outside of your range. You’ve got to play just as well. It doesn’t matter if you sing or play guitar the same way, it’s not the same.
What’s your biggest technique challenge currently?
When I go out to practice I always get excited. I see how I can improve and I’m always really excited about what I’m working on.
I’m always on the verge of getting inspired from what I see, but then when I play, I get inspired from how it goes.
That’s a good technique! So you never really get bored of it?
I don’t try to stop. Whenever I see something I like, I just keep playing it.
The more you practice the better you get.
Yes, but I always try and find it new. If in a while you’ve heard something that you enjoy, you know, you just keep that one.
When it comes to being active in the music scene, what are you the most excited about this year?
This year, I want to be in the studio recording songs.
I’m excited that we started doing a lot that had never been recorded before.
We did songs by other artists with more of a classical feel to them. This year, we’re just doing some more songs that have more of a R&B feel to them.
We’re just really proud of how those songs are coming out.
We’re also going to record some different projects in that studio. I think that was kind of what it took for us to really get back to being in the studio and really getting a feel for what works and what doesn’t work here.
That’s an interesting thing with you, because there seem to be a lot of projects that haven’t been worked on together. What gives you that sense that it would be a good idea to stay in the studio that you’re recording on together?
It helps when you hear each other’s parts and we can listen to the same things over and over again.
