What’s something I can improve on if I get to be an adult?
The first rule of drawing is to be honest with yourself (see your original post), your own limitations etc. You can’t do it, and it won’t work, for you, nor any subject and certainly for others.
The second (and possibly your most important) rule is: take care of yourself.
I think this is actually a lot more important then most people will ever realize.
If you want to get good at drawing face, you have to find out what you want to draw. Then you have to draw it. And it is not a simple process: it requires some creativity, and even a bit of luck.
To make things even more difficult, once you have drawn a face, you have to keep on drawing faces, even if you want to do something in the background. You have to find them on your own and learn to control the movements, so your drawing becomes even more unique.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this somewhere before, but it is a very important part of drawing: you’ll never be as good of a artist if you don’t want to be.
Now to what I can say: drawing is a hard thing, and is more than it has any right to be. There are no shortcuts and no cheat techniques, no way to do anything on your own.
This might seem to be a lot, but I would even go so far as to say I would like to do better, in some cases, than any other thing on the planet.
The reason why I like to draw is because I want to know and understand the character of a person, and in that respect, I find most of that which follows after. This is the fundamental goal of drawing: to understand and understand why it is something that can be done. I don’t care what color, shape or size it is; as long as you get to understand it.
I do admit that I don’t have all the answers, it’s not like I could teach you on my own. And if someone else wanted to, he/she surely would as well. But by myself, with my own hands, I’d have to do it the best I could.
