It’s a very different thing, but it’s one of those things when you’re trying to draw a dog, you don’t like the lines, you don’t like the shapes, you don’t like the shapes. You see, you can’t draw, “oh you have a little hair on your face,” you can’t draw that. You’re looking at the creature, it’s a horse, what’s your point in that, or you see a horse, what’s your point in that? That’s the thing that really gets my brain going.
Where did the name “Winnie the Pooh” come from?
One of my first cartoons was the title of my first film, with “Happy Pooh.” My mother would come home and say, “Winnie the Pooh, are you coming with me today to watch my films?” I said maybe because I was so sleepy when I turned on my television and I missed it. She said, if you come, I’ll be really excited, and I said, “I’ll go.” So I did, and now it has just about 10 billion people who know about the name.
So what do you really do every day?
I’m on a job hunt right now, and I’m actually on a job hunt right now. My company hires me by saying, “Do you have any interesting things you think can be used for advertising?” I’ll do anything, just give me 20, 35, 45 minutes, and I’ll make a proposal, and then the company will hire me based on that proposal. I’ve never done that before. And it’s kind of nice to know where you can find the jobs you enjoy. I’m working really hard right now because there’s no work to be done, but there’s no reason why you have to do work if that’s what you love to do.
